Gender Divides

Following the Antaizon Revolution, leaders took advantage of the Constitutional Crisis to put forward a radical new curriculum on gender divides.   An evolving sense that gender existed along a continuum had already become a commonly held view across much of Antaizon society even prior to the Revolution. In fact, that was a growing conflict in Antaizon society, with some more conservative groups rejecting the trend towards a different sort of gender breakdown for society.   At the Antaizon Constitutional Convention, an Educational Committee proposed an ambitious set of reforms to the educational system. Among these reforms was a comprehensive plan for teaching gender from a young age. Some important features of this system included:
  • Discussions of consent... What conesent looks like, how give it and receive it from young ages.
  • Discussions of sex alongside consent that begin at the age of 10.
  • History of queer identities beginning in middle school
  • Although there was no agreed upon gender breakdown, there have been a number of new theories of gender that have been proposed.   One idea that has developed is that there is a continuum from authoritarian to anarchic that all must find ways to adapt to as part of their lives. All must find ways to embrace authority and march with their comrades. This takes the form of military service and of uniforms in school. All must also find ways to embrace anarchy and bend their identities in ways that are comfortable for them. Adherents of this idea are proud members of the military, but they also embrace the tradition of drag and of performance. Good comrades of the Revolution must be able to embrace both to get at the fullness of life.   Others have expressed a preference for a sort of Telenetic Unity that would downplay genders altogether.   A small number have suggested that following the Revolution there should be a sort of draft based on your preferred gender identity, one that would pull you into military service or caretaker service depending on your preferred skills.   All of these faced objections, and there were factions in the revolution that rejected all of these changes. That said, Premier Saladin got the assembled delegates to settle on the most significant educational changes. Initial resistance faded as the ideas gained traction with younger generations of educators.
