Aki Island

An island of Serpentfolk.

Geography

An offshore island formed from a volcanic eruption. While the volcano is dormant, the possibility of an eruption is still present, held back by the magic of the serpentfolk who live there.

The island is covered in a thick jungle canopy, the favorite biome of snake people.

The island is subject to temperate seasonal cycles, though the temperature rarely reaches freezing levels.

The land on the island is incredibly fertile due to the volcanic soil.

History

A volcanic eruption several centuries ago wiped out the inhabitants of the island and cloaked thousands of square miles of the mainland in darkness. This darkness ushered in several years of fierce combat with creatures of darkness and a famine from the winter it caused. After things calmed down, the island was given by the then king of the Kingdom of Kol Gethanil to a nomadic tribe of serpentfolk who promised to keep the volcano silent in exchange for the land.
