Spreadweed

In the Crystal Sands, you have to be the toughest out there. This plant does just that, it can survive a Sand Walker stepping on it, it can survive heat. It can move.

Basic Information

Anatomy

This plant's strange abilities to move are amazing. It has eight so called 'limbs', really they are just strengthened stalks.

Genetics and Reproduction

In the wet season, they come back from dormancy and sprout, releasing pollen to fertilize other plants. Due to the large amounts of wind storms, most eventually reaches another plant.

Growth Rate & Stages

While this plant is amazing, it does take years to grow. While maturing, it can not move, but is situated like a normal plant, in the ground. For the next year, it sits there, slowly growing, with the stalks pointing outwards resting on the sand.

Ecology and Habitats

It easily is over-watered, so the desert is the perfect place for them. During the wet season, all of the newer plants that sprouted on the outer edge of the desert, move inland. Using the eight stalks, they turn upside down and walk toward the nearest source of water. Many end up at the ocean, but the percentage that reaches fresh water, thrive.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Like i said earlier, you must be the toughest thing out there to survive, this plant has taken it to another level. When established and blooming, the parasites of Sand walkers hop off and investigate these new smells. You could say the plant brain-washes them into thinking it's better than their host. Once they arrive on the plant, they are grabbed by the flowers and digested, similar to the Venus fly trap.

Biological Cycle

Every year when the rain comes, the plants kick into action, the established plants bloom, while the newer plants try to move to water.
