majhy (Maj-hi)

Is comparable to a king or duke. Each settlement has one, some are more powerful than others, either in battle, connections or wealth.

Qualifications

A systematic vote must go through the entire settlement if an heir isn't available.

Requirements

There isn't a minimal age or gender requirement, but they do have to be born in the settlement.

Appointment

The main ritual to earn the title and rank is once the vote is finished, a Guardian must be found. If the Guardian gives their blessing, they are appointed Majhy.

Duties

Depending on who is chosen, they may give to charities, even adopt scratchlings. But, sometimes, Majhy use their power against others, if this happens, someone almost always consults a Guardian. If it is against what their blessing, they will take care of the Majhy themselves.

Responsibilities

They can order troops of their settlement to have watch schedules, ordering taxes to be paid (if taxes are present in the settlement) and much more, essentially managing the settlement.

Benefits

Taxes (again, if present) provide a steady source of income. Political views are launched sky-high, and they are also treated with the upmost respect.

Accoutrements & Equipment

A circlet is given to the Majhy as a sort of crown. In addition, they also get their personal war-titan, complete with a suit of armor, just in case.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

If they disobey the Guardian's blessing, and someone reports them, the Guardian usually storms the settlement, picks out the Majhy, and eradicates them. Then the appointment process begins all over again.

History

In the year of the Plague, Majhy Stomfa decided to attack another settlement, because they were weakened by the outbreak of Devil's Horn. They subsequently caught it, returned home, and nearly wiped out their whole population.

Majhy are accountable for doing rituals and offerings to the Guardians.

The title is still in effect, just as we use the term President.

Creation

During the early years before the Plague, a group of Animoterrans desired to have a leader.

Equates to

They have the same power as a medieval King or Queen would. Similar to the Jarls in Skyrim. In smaller settlements, the Majhy is often seen walking through the town, helping people, playing with young ones, whatever they can to help.

Source of Authority

The authority comes from the Guardians blessing.

Length of Term

Their term lasts until they die, step down, or are ordered to from a Guardian.
