Baranika

The island Baranika is about 180 miles wide and 230 miles tall. It lies closely to the equator and is densely wooded. The average temperature lies about 23°C and the only cooling factor are the sporadic storms coming from the south-east. It's main feature is a cone-shaped volcano at its center, encircled by smaller hills.
Baranikas Ressources
Baranika holds an important geopolitical position. First of all it is useful as a military outpost as it is the easternmost location of the Andarian continent, and has been used in the past as an outpost for stationing naval fleets. Secondly it holds a decent amount of natural ressources in form of wood, pelts and meat, and most importantly the hills to the middle of Baranika seem to hold a worthwhile amount of gold and different kind of gems. It is also interesting from an archaeological point of view, because some extremly ancient temples have been found, hidden in the deeps of the jungle, constructed by an unknown ancient civilisation. Some of these already looted temples, were richly decorated, though some were haunted and heavily guarded by undead creatures.
Population
Baranika belongs to the Dragonborn Monarchy of Yetheloth, ruled by queen Fuulkurtha Orath, which lies about 250 miles to the south-west. Yetheloth clashes from times to times, with its human neighbours on its western border and with a rivaling Dragonborn kingdom, that lies about 1200 miles to the north of Baranika.   Baranika was claimed by the Kingdom of Yetheloth around 140 years ago and its population can be divided into two factions. On the one side the new settlers and wealth-seekers, who either search for a new beginning in life or simply try making money of this uncharted, but rich island. On the other side are the native lizardfolks, who hunt and gather in the untamed jungle.
