The Great Mage, Delmira Voniara

Founder of Voniara School of Magic Delmira Voniara (a.k.a. The Laughing Mage)

Clever of mind and stout of heart, Delmira was destined for more from the second she was born. Her sister Gerwalt, elder by a mere two minutes, was always the more cautious of the two, and would steady her blade upon only the most deserving of foes. But Delmira was hardly like this, her mind craved knowledge and she would be ever more determined to seek it out as she grew older. When she was only three she began to read, from the simple scratchings of her mothers client log or the signs posted around the village. Learning each new word and sounding it out, writing with a stick in the dirt, and creating runes and circles that she saw in her mind.   These runes concerned Delmira's mother, and awed her sister, for they were always so accurate, always so close to something. But a child born in poverty without a teacher in sight could hardly be a mage...   Unless one were to be given guidance from a strange voice within their dreams. Each night when Delmira slept she heard the voices, whispering secrets of magic and knowledge into her heart. At times these dreams were bright and clear, burning with the sun and light, at others they were dark and cold, the voices etching into her. And yet at other points she felt as though she were wandering a twisting maze, guided only by her own feeling and the desire to reach the end. But the ones which were clearest, which moved her forward each day with renewed vigor, were the dreams of vast libraries and deep wells swirling runes, diving through books and tomes she could never even imagine in the light of day.   It was from these very dreams that her first steps into the world of magic were guided, the mysteries of the weave laid before her, as she began to pluck and trace at each of it's strands. Over time her power grew and her knowledge became vast, and when Gerwalt set out on her quest to unite the lands it was with Delmira at her side. Ever the advisor, ever the curious student, Delmira was a study in contradictions. Just as Gerwalt gained followers, so too did Delmira. Students of magic, those who were both divine and arcane, came to her for guidance. While they traversed the land, studying and learning from the world around them and from each other, Delmira realized a single truth:   Magic could not be divided.   There was something to be gained from studying the works of Warlocks, Wizards, Clerics, Bards, and Sorcerers, something to be learned from the Druid circles and the Rangers bow, and none of these aspects were to be left out. With this mindset carrying her forth Delmira founded the Voniara School Of Magic, and took it's name as her own, as a sign of her devotion to the mages of the land, and to magic itself. As the first headmaster and founder of Voniara, Delmira dedicated her life to the betterment of all through the study of magic, by collecting artifacts and expanding their breadth of knowledge she was able to expand the city of Insas and help rebuild the Isle of Voni.
