The Wardens

The highest position in the Tarrat Towers, the Wardens are responsible for the overseeing and management of the organisation. The first two Wardens, and the Founders of the Towers, were Lucretai and Zubasia, who are commemorated each year on Founders' Day.

Qualifications

In order to become a warden, one must have attended the Towers as a student or teacher (both is preferred). They must have strong magical abilities and a firm grasp of the principles of higher magical learning. They also must have the talents of a leader, such as charisma and loyalty.

Requirements

No ancestral or physical requirements are in place, although many Wardens have come from influential families, and there have been very few who are not from a major city or wealthy region.

Appointment

Appointed by the previous Wardens, prospective Wardens undergo a 7 day period of solitude and fasting where they plane-shift into the Astral plane and commune with the previous Wardens. After the week is up, the Wardens will have made their choice and there is a ceremonial passing of the cloaks from one generation to the next. Then, the previous Wardens leave the school and do not return for the next 5 years at least.

Duties

Upkeep and maintenance of the Towers, protecting and advocating for the interests of their students and scholars in government, regulating magical forces throughout the continent.

Responsibilities

Approving goings-on in the school, managing funds, keeping tabs on the whereabouts of mages and keeping potentially dangerous ones in check.

Benefits

Get some good good cash, also a LOT of esteem, swish digs, also quite a lot of magical power comes with the job.

Accoutrements & Equipment

Blue cloak, some wardens choose to embroider the cloaks so they have many different overlapping stitches. Pretty cool.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

The Towers can hold an uprising, but that is incredibly rare. The Wardens can die. After 50 years, they go through the astral thing and the handing over of the cloaks and leave.
