The Aftermath of the Vault Incident

I heard the beating of wings and falling rocks. When I looked up, I saw a golden, winged serpent latched onto the tower of the Grand Courthouse. It swiveled its head over the city and I was rooted to the spot. Even a full minute after it roared and took off, I couldn't move, forced to watch it fly in-land.

Barry, Jakob, Kiin, and Violet opened the gates to ex-open lord Darren Everburn's vault and made their way inside, accompanied by Rami Everburn, Vega Wardragon, and Meloon Goldcrest.
On a lower level, they encountered a dark-skinned dwarf with long white hair who held in his hands a large arcane staff. When asked about the staff, the dwarf, who said his name was Dalahkar, refused to discuss it. The subject changed to the piles of gold behind him, and after a brief conversation—with the assistance of Rami—the group convinced Dalahkar that they were not there to steal Lord Everburn's gold, but to return it to the citizens of Dollet from whom it was embezzeled. Convinced that Lord Everburn would entrust his own son as a vassal, Dalahkar obliged and told them he would remain with the gold while they fetched assistance to excavate it.
As the party returned to the upper level of the vault, Zardon Zoz, the infamous pirate king, and two-dozen of his fellow mates surrounded them, claiming the gold now belonged to them, and that they also wanted the staff in Dalahkar's posession. To make matters worse, they had two hostages near and dear to the group; Victor Vicario and Vonnie the barmaid. Joining sides in the battle against the pirates, Dalahkar and the others fought with Zardon.
Nearly claiming victory, a third party appeared, known as the Doom Raiders; the malevolent leaders of the Onyx Syndicate in Dollet. With three sides at each others throats, Dalahkar, who revealed himself to be a golden dragon, debilitated the Doom Raiders with his fiery breath, but these storied criminals showed great resistance. Knowing that he stood no chance against the pirates and the Doom Raiders, and having already lost more blood than he could afford, he swallowed the staff held between his claws, spread his wings, and burst forth through the ceiling of the vault.
Jakob and the others, by the skin of their teeth, overcame Zardon and killed four of the five Doom Raiders. Vonnie, who had previously been freed by Vega, returned to the vault shortly thereafter with a squadron of Dollet guards. Vega explained the situation and made it clear that Jakob and his friends would be rewarded not only for their bravery in this fight, but for bringing an end to the bloodshed between the Onyx Syndicate and the other criminals in the city.
Zardon Zoz and the only living Doom Raider, Targun Malachite, were taken into custody and Vonnie and Victor were saved. For their efforts, Jakob and his allies were rewarded 50,000 gold dragons.
