Imperial Vessels

Imperial vessels are a study in contrasts. On one hand, the Empire has ample troops and finds swarm attacks to be quite effective, even if the vessels themselves are somewhat expendable. On the other hand, for specific projects or important people, the Empire’s deep coffers can turn out some truly impressive skyships.     Sparrow (Simple Starfighter from Hyperlanes; appearance is the TIE Fighter from Star Wars) Size: Small Speed: 6 squares (space) AC: 18 HP: 170 Saves: Dexterity, Wisdom Cost: 70,000 gp Resistant to lightning damage Vulnerable to all attacks when there are no allies within 6 squares Battle Station A: Piloting, Sensors, Gunnery Laser Cannon (+2 to hit) 5/10, dealing 4d8 fire per hit. Grants the Break Away gambit.     Eagle (Interdictor from Hyperlanes; appearance is the Consular class cruiser from Star Wars) Size: Huge Speed: 6 squares (FTL, space) AC: 19 HP: 470 Saves: Charisma, Constitution, Wisdom Cost: 3,000,000 gp Resistant to thunder damage Vulnerable to all attacks if it loses a ship it’s pursuing Battle Station A: Piloting, Sensors, Gunnery, Engineering Laser Cannon 5/10, dealing 2d12 fire per hit. Grants the Close In gambit. Battle Station B: Engineering, Sensors Grants Track Creature gambit Battle Station C: Gunnery (x3) Gravity Cannon 7/14, dealing 2d12 force damage. A target hit must make a Strength save or be restrained for 1d6 rounds, or until successful on a subsequent save. Ships may not attempt to shift within 14 squares, and any ship nearby is pulled into real space. Grants Double Tap gambit     Aegis (Inspection Ship from Hyperlanes; appearance is the Firespray from Star Wars) Size: Medium Speed: 7 squares (space) AC: 17 HP: 310 Saves: Dexterity, Intelligence, Wisdom, Charisma, Constitution Cost: 150,000 gp Resistant to thunder damage Vulnerable to all attacks once outside home planet’s gravity well Battle Station A: Piloting, Sensors, Gunnery Laser 5/10, dealing 2d12 fire per hit. Grants the Lay of the Land gambit. Battle Station B: Engineering, Piloting, Sensors Grants Survey gambit Battle Station C: Gunnery (x2) Cutting Laser 3/8, deals 3d12 fire. Grants Shoot First gambit.   Imperial war machines continue the skyship tradition, with a pair each of specialty vehicles demanding considerable resources and vehicles that are cheap but effective.   Firestarter (Light War Machine, ‘Firestarter’) Size: Huge Speed: 90 AC: 15 HP: 170 Saves: Dexterity, Wisdom Immunity: Fire damage Cost: 300,000 gp Battle Station A: Piloting, Gunnery, Sensors, Engineering Med. Laser: 4/8, 4d12 fire. Grants Immolation* gambit.   *In a 30’ radius from the vehicle, all take 10d6 fire damage and catch on fire (burning for 5d6 damage per round until they take an action to extinguish the flames). On a successful save take half damage and avoid catching on fire.   Firestarters run in ahead of legions to raise hell and attempt to disrupt fortifications, advantageous woods, or small hamlets built out of flammable material. Though much reviled by all non-Imperials, the pilots of these machines are often selected for having a bit of a sadistic streak, and they are extremely effective.   Trebuchet (Medium War Machine, ‘Trebuchet’) Size: Huge Speed: 75 AC: 15 HP: 250 Saves: Dexterity, Wisdom Resistance: Thunder damage Cost: 200,000 gp Battle Station A: Piloting, Gunnery, Sensors, Engineering LRM: 70/140, 6d10 thunder. Grants Longest Shot gambit.   Typically positioned well behind its legion, the Trebuchet serves as fire support for infantry and does an excellent job. Despite being inexpensive and a no-frills design, most legions only have four, as they’re effective enough in small numbers.   Centurion (Heavy War Machine, ‘Quickdraw’) Size: Gargantuan Speed: 75 (Jump) AC: 19 HP: 330 Saves: Strength, Dexterity, Wisdom Resistance: Thunder Cost: 350,000 gp Battle Station A: Piloting, Gunnery, Sensors LRM-10: 7/14. 3d10 thunder. Grants Strafing Fire gambit. Battle Station B: Gunnery, Engineering Med. Lasers: 4/8, 4d12 fire. Grants Seeker Missiles (level 2) gambit.   Despite the name, this vehicle isn’t as common as centurions and in fact typically serves as the vehicle for the legion’s leader. It’s a mobile and capable unit, though not as hard hitting as some war machines of similar size.   Praetor (Assault War Machine, ‘King Crab’) Size: Gargantuan Speed: 30 AC: 21 HP: 410 Saves: Strength, Constitution, Wisdom Resistance: Thunder, Lightning Immune: Fire Cost: 550,000 gp Battle Station A: Piloting, Gunnery, Sensors Twin AC-20s: 5/10, 40d6 piercing. Grants Spray Fire gambit. If you roll a 1 on your attack, this Battle Station becomes Disabled. Battle Station B: Gunnery, Engineering LRM-15: 7/14, 3d10 thunder. Grants Heavy Rocket gambit.   To the relief of many, only four of these machines are currently active, and guard the Emperor. Indeed, when the Emperor travels, it’s inside one of these machines while the rest serve as convoy. Capable of shredding most assault craft and other war machines within seconds, the secret of Praetor construction is tightly guarded, though few have the resources to duplicate these anyway. Painted white, red, black, and sickly green, the names of these fantastical engines evokes an old and terrifying myth which they easily bring to life.
