Storm Bay

Storm Bay is a small Yup'ik village on an isolated island of the same name. It is located southeast of the Kodiak Islands, right on the edge of the Alutian Ridge, where the depth of the ocean waters plummets suddenly.
The village itself is on the southern shores of the island.

Visitors

Research Station

The research station is a small facility owned and operated by a group of researchers out of NUI - Galway, Ireland. All of the researchers are women, and they are very territorial over their property, constantly worrying that someone will break the fragile equipment. The station is on the north side of the island, the better to track the seal populations that tend to hunt around the northwest side.

Missioneries

There is a nearly constant presence of missioneries on the island, though the exact group and denomination rotates regularly. They set up a large camp to the east of the village.

Cruise Shipwreck Survivors

Around 400 survivors landed on the shores of Storm Bay. Half of those were sent to the mainland on an empty supply ship, while the other half was put up in several homes and the community center. The villagers do their best to feed and entertain their guests, but it puts a strain on their resources. Fortunately, the missioneries have stepped in to help with some of that.

Government

Storm Bay is run by a Mayor, who is almost always a tribal elder. Though it is largely forgotten, the island village is under the wing of the State of Alaska, USA.
