Lynaltaur (lie-nul-tor)

The most fearsome of Scourge's forces, the mere mention of these beasts is enough to strike fear in the heart of a seasoned soldier. They command different areas of Scourge's army. Their rank is tatooed onto their shoulders but more visibly the color of their mane is dyed to signify their rank and strength. Red manes are the lowest class of Lynal, superceded by black manes and finally white manes as the highest, and command units of fifty, one hundred, and one thousand troops respectively. Red manes may be the weakest but are still considered very dangerous and should be avoided whenever possible. The white mane Lynals are the most powerful monsters in Scourge's mortal army. A lone white mane without any equipment or weapons can take on over fifty human foot soldiers at once.

Weapons of Devastation

The Lynals use an arsenal of specially made weapons crafted specifically with the Lynals' speed and strength in mind. The weapons are divided into three levels for each rank of Lynal commander. Each Lynal has a bow and their choice of a spear, sword and shield, or club.

Basic "Red" Lynal Gear

These weapons are built for the lowest ranking Lynals, but they are still fearsome pieces of work.
  • Bow - The bow is a thick piece of wood heavily reinforced with metal, capable of puncturing a breastplate.
  • Spear - The spear is a long wooden shaft with a broad axe blade attatched to one end.
  • Sword - The sword blade is thick and heavy, designed with smashing in mind rather than slicing.
  • Shield - The shield is a sturdy wooden disc inset in a metal ring with two sharp blades fused to the top and bottom.
  • Club - The two-handed club is a heavy slab of chiseled stone with a metal handle built into the small end, perfect for knocking down soldiers with shields.

Heavy "Black" Lynal Gear

These weapons are much stronger, made for high ranking Lynal juggernauts.
  • Bow - The massive bow is made entirely of metal and sports a bowstring so tough, humans have trouble drawing it back.
  • Spear - The weight and cutting edge of the spear have both been enhanced. A spiked metal ball on the butt end gives the spear better balance and the blade is sharp enough to cleave through rock with a single swing.
  • Sword - The sword boasts more blades and more power. A skilled Lynal can draw this sword simply in passing and still cut a foe in two.
  • Shield - The shield is reinforced with armor and even more blades. A skilled Lynal can use their shield to block an attack and immediately respond, using the sharp edges to batter and tear through basic armor.
  • Club - The Lynal two-handed weapon is a wedge shaped slab of rock reinforced with metal to increase its durability and weight. Its overwhelming heft is meant to crush its foe, shield and all.

Beastly "White" Lynal Gear

The most powerful of all the Lynal equipment, these formidible weapons are reserved for top ranking Lynal commanders. Even among the white manes only a few have the skill to wield such savage instruments of death.
  • Bow - The bows are made of multiple sheets of metal and steel cords. The bows are so strong they can send an arrow straight through a full grown tree and are nearly impossible for any other creature to draw.
  • Spear - The spear is cast into an axe-like spearhead on both ends, giving it twice the cutting power of a heavy Lynal spear. Its exceptional weight and balance give it absolute destructive power.
  • Sword - The sword carried by white mane Lynals. The savage blades are strong enough to cut down any foe, no matter how strong.
  • Shield - The ultimate Lynal shield used only by white manes, it appears to be made more for attacking than defending. The entire rim has been sharpened to a cutting edge and excels at defending against any attack.
  • Club - The two-handed weapon is properly named the crusher. The dense stone core is incased in metal and is immensely heavy. The power of its downward swing could classify it as a handheld siege weapon. Their heavy metal bodies and serated edges are designed for crushing and tearing through Gorgun Iron armor.

Basic Information

Anatomy

Lynaltaurs are monsterous beasts, with the head of a bull, the upperbody of a man, and the body of a horse. Two large horns grow from their forehead and a thick mane around their head and human back. Their horse legs are thick and powerful and their arms and chest are rippling with muscles.

Behaviour

Lynaltaurs are very aggresive and highly dangerous even when unarmed. They have various attacks they can perform. They can charge at their enemy at full gallop, attempting to ram them with their horns, trample them with their hooves, and lashing out with their claws. Lynals can roar so loud it creates a sonic boom, killing and destroying everything in the vicinity, but it leaves the Lynal disoriented and vulnerable for several minutes.
