After a short skirmish The Crusaders of Truth were able to convert both the Bloodrock and Rat-Tooth Goblin Tribes to their cause. The battle is said to have lasted less than an hour, with the Goblins quickly surrendering to the crusaders. Regardless of initial hostilities, they tribes were treated with respect and were even promised handsome rewards for their help in procuring the Ring of Truth.

Not more than a week after their summit, the crusaders took their first chances on diplomacy. They were ambushed by two Goblin tribes, the Rat-Tooth Tribe and the Bloodrock Tribe. Though they were mostly ineffective, several crusaders were injure or killed in the surprise attack. The brothers fought back, but instead of slaying their attackers en masse, Richelieu gave a great yell which is said to have quieted the field. Once all eyes were on him, Richelieu addressed the crowd of mixed combatants. He commanded the crusaders to cease their fighting, and offered to allow their attackers to go free. Before he was finished, however, he had also made the Goblins an offer. Richelieu offered rewards in the way of food, drink, and any treasures that the Goblins might discover on their journey.   Intrigued by his lamentations, the Goblin chiefs agreed. A small forest feast was held alongside a shared funeral for those slain in battle as a sign of camaraderie between the two forces. The next day, the crusader army, now supplemented by the Rat-Tooth and Bloodrock tribes, marched deeper into the Silver Mountains.
