The Baby Experiment

The start of the Experiment

When the Baby Experiment was first designed, 100 babies were created (50 girls and 50 boys) using scientist couples as their "parents" to both donate their genes to create the babies and to take the primary role in their education.
As at the start of the Experiment, there were 1000 scientists in the Research Station, 20 scientists were assigned per baby, in the addition to special caretakers under their orders. This meant that the babies have been under constant surveillance for their entire life.

The teams

From the start, the babies were divided into mixed teams. Each team is named after one letter of the Latin (26 letters) or Greek (24 letters) alphabets and both babies in the team were given a name starting with that letter. The teams are used during experiments, either to create opposing factions or to determinate order of passage.
The experiments are dangerous and the people who run them careless with the babies who most considered to be little better than animals, and so 30 years later, there are only 13 babies who have survived (5 girls and 8 boys). Because of this, most teams have had to be mixed up.

The Latin teams

The Latin teams are considered to be the "first" ones and to be better. They also have parents who are higher in the scientists' hierachy and so more able to help their children survive.

A cutthroat and ambitous mindset (gained form her father), making her push herself to always excel and find better way to do things.

Compassion (gained from her mother), allows her to look past the rivalries between the teams to look at their true enemies: the company.

Constantly challenging Team A's decisions (when it's safe to do so).

Trying to one-up Team A.

Getting upset when Team A asks them to be up to the task and imitate what they have done.

Also the ones looking up to Team A the most (understand how hard it is to be leaders) and do not accept that other criticise them.

Think less outside of the box than Team A.

Less patient than Team A and less respected by other teams, and so get annoyed more easily.

If A are not there to appease everyone, debates sometimes get vicious before B manage to convince everyone that they don't have a choice if they want to go through the experiment instead of just standing there indefinitely, waiting for a miracle.

Both had partners who died and they were put together since Team E all died and they were next to each other in the alphabet.

Daredevils and reckless. Already like that before their partners' death but are now considered to have a death wish.

The angriest at the Company and the one who wants to rebel against them the most, with everyone else having to hold them back and constantly bringing back how their actions has already killed their partners and Team E.

They scout and test things for Team A and they trust them to warn them and keep them alive no matter what.

A joker but only adopted this attitude to make the other laugh again after their partner's death, and by now this has become natural and something she's unable to stop.

Always try to improve the mood of everyone and keep people thinking positively and not give up on finding solutions no matter what the caretakers throw at them.

In debates, tries to lighten the mood and keep them talking until a solution is found.

Team C - Once when they were young teens, Teams A and B were not available, and Team C had to replace them and go first and alone through a dangerous challenge and died.
Team E and the lost members of Teams D and F died while going through a challenge together because they were reckless and tried to rush through it rather than use the extremely slow but safe method established by Team A.

The Greek teams

Considered by everyone to be the "second rate" teams and deeply resentful of this. Before most of them were killed, they had a deep rivalry with the Latin teams.
The babies were given names starting with the same sound as the name of their team, but written with Latin alphabet (unless someone wanted to make fun of them/mess up with them, with some of the babies from the Latin teams sometimes did when they were younger).

Very resentful towards the Latin teams for the preferential treatment that allowed more of them to survive.

Grégoire took on as leader as teenager after Team Alpha and Beta died.

Under Grégoire's leadership, only 2 other Greeks haven't died, and Eloi and Yolanthe hold him responsible for the deaths.

Grégoire resisted Team A's alliance offer but Eloi forced his hand and he ended up resigning himself.
