The Red Sorceress Myth

Summary

Supposedly, the Red Sorceress was a fallen sorceress during the early founding of Alia. She wore blood-red and massacred entire cities. Some say she did this in the name of rights for lesser elves, while others say she did it because she found killing fun. Reincarnations of the Red Sorceress have sporadically popped up, leading some to believe that the Red Sorceress was more of a title than an individual person. Each time, she would appear, slaughter hundreds of thousands of people, then disappear without a trace after a few years. The most recent “reincarnation” was Soriya, taking up the mantle in 694 IA.

Historical Basis

There is some historical evidence that massacres of this scale did, in fact, occur. More recent “reincarnations” of the Red Sorceress have also encourage people to believe in the original myth.

Variations & Mutation

Some variations suggest that the Red Sorceress was not fully human, but was instead part demon. Other varitations differ on her motives, such as her killing for fun or doing it for lesser elves’ rights. Still others say the Red Sorceress was, in fact, male and refer to him as the Red Sorcerer instead.
