Xolan the Thunder Mage

A young gnome (age) named Xolen Thunderpeak broke the quantum lightning rod of power Rainbow Set  to destroy a cyclops in revenge for his entire town (whose entirely to protect the item) being destroyed by the cyclops. Half of the spirit of the broken item gave Xolen power of lightning but also a changeable nature, being alternatingly intensely good or evil. As Eknar was born at the exact same moment, the other half went into him, and entangled him with Xolen. Early in Eknar’s life, he was too young for it to matter, but Xolen did many evils, searched out knowledge of the QQ items, and destroyed that knowledge and those around him. Eventually he tried to find solace with monks, eventually killed his mentor and moved to complete isolation. Once Eknar starts to change, Xolen begins to (by writing to the person that delivers / takes items to/from outside his isolated mountain homestead) search for Eknar.
Solan is a gnome sorcerer/monk The adventurers should learn of Xolan as the thunder wizard, and can hear tales of his destruction and fickle nature. If they go to the large island land (name) where he resides, they can be contacted by his messenger (maybe the messenger has an item that can detect Eknar’s quantum spirit)
