Material Characteristics

This fabric is smooth to the touch and almost always cool. It holds dyes very well, however if you put multiple colors on it they will blend together to mix and shift as if it is moving. They colors are very vibrant and do not fade.

Geology & Geography

The Sea Worms which this material is made from are found in ocean caves that are located in the southern most coast of Alben particularly in the Blue Forest region.

History & Usage

Discovery

The Sea Worms were discovered by the early Albenites as they traveled south. And it was discovered that it could be made into silk around the time of the Blue Lord.

Everyday use

It is commonly used in clothing especially more ceremonial garments worn by priests of the Church of the Moon. The rich also wear it fairly often though mostly people have at least one outfit of the substance.

Cultural Significance and Usage

As stated before it is common garment for priests to wear, often times these garments are long and mostly formless made with some black and blue dyes ranging them in color to almost pure white to pure black and everything in between. It is also the common material that is used in wedding garments.

Refinement

To make this you first have to gather the cocoons of Sea Worms, then extract the threads from them. Next you will dye the threads using sea water, in it which will help the dye bond to the threads. Then you weave the threads into workable cloth and cut that into a garment. Most garments are made from one sheet of fabric.
