Session 4 - The Curious Case of Corazon

General Summary

The party discovered that Charles had been victim to a magical attack putting him in a coma, with his organs crystallised and his heart stolen. Sorrowful Merrow held Charles in his church while the party investigated the attack.

Initial blame fell onto the Flaying Raven until his body turned up later. Investigating along with a member of the Akram' Rangers, Chief Mekno, the party discovered the Flaying Raven claimed to have the ability to steal bodies and claimed to have done so four times already and had plans to steal Charles' body to gain access to the Hammersmith name. It seemed the Raven had started to attack Charles but was interrupted and killed in the process.

Discovering runes at the Flaying Raven's murder site that appeared to be teleportation based in nature the party later found the exit point when matching runes were found at the Varlok Market Square, where Charles had been found.

Summoning Kobrix and having him track the attacker's scent lead the party to a blacksmith. Sneaking in under cover of darkness and knocking out the guards the party discovered it housed a crystallised mind flayer who seemed to be in agony due to his condition. He spoke of a book on Kyanite Crystals located in The Dragon Boneyard that could reverse such a transformation and told the party they would need to fetch it and bring it to him if they wished Charles' transformation to be undone.

Knox opened a door that offered a view into the Far Realm. Managing to close it before suffering too many ill effects he did see an image of an Ivory Skull with Crystal Tentacles surrounded by many eyes.

The party left the blacksmith after their discussion with the mind flayer and are in possession of Charles' crystal heart. They are now ready to plan their next move.
