The Ithryl Woods

The only remaining home of the elves that thrives of the material realm, The Ithryl Woods used to be home to just the high elves, but, after the wood and sea elves were forced out of their home by the The Martéan Empire, it is now home to many of the elves that remain on The Continent. Now, Ithryl is overcrowded, leading to many elves simply camping in the canopies of tree rather than actually sleeping in homes. Over the last 200 years, the forest has become bustling with activity, and near impenetrable to invaders due to he extra hands. The magic of the forest has also grown stronger, due to reconnecting with the eladrin of Feywild, causing many to begin to fear the elves. Other than their relations with the recently founded country of Knaeva, The Ithryl Woods has become silent in the last few months, and the forest itself has grown silent, almost empty, causing many to wonder where the elves have vanished to.   Although the country itself encompasses the entire woodland region, only certain section of it as habitable, with the elves needing to share the land with many a fey creature, as they too would have no where else to go if forced out of the area. Saol's Grove is technically within the region of Ithryl, being the most popular area for travellers, but is considered outside of the country's jurisdiction, being self governed and self sustaining.

Culture

As can be expected, the natives of Ithryl worship their patron goddess, Nimue, the First of the Fey, but they also celebrate the Archfey of the Feywild, with them naming the months of the year of the Seasonal Calendar after them, basing a holiday each month for each of the different Archfey. The elves of Ithryl are also known for their love of the arcane and the powers of the mystic arts, with pretty much everyone born here having to learn at least the very basics of magic, given how important it is for their culture.

Assets

The elves of Ithryl are known for producing some of the greatest mystics in The Continent, while also training some of the most skilled knights. Other than this, they inherited the skilled rangers of The Golden Forest, further increasing the defence of their home. In recent years, they have also managed an alliance with many other civilisations, including the drow of Avalencia and the people of Knaeva, while procuring extra-planar aid in the form of the famed knights of Ellhesari, natives to the plane of Feywild.

History

The native elves of The Ithryl Woods are known for their connection with their home realm of Feywild, and their allegedly superior arcane knowledge as a result of this has led the natives calling themselves 'high elves'. They were the first elves to arrive in the Material Plane from the Feywild, staying near the Planes Gate in the woods to stay in touch with their heritage, unlike their wood elf and sea elf brethren. This is why the country's capital, Elendir, is built around the Planes Gate, keeping them in contact with their past.
