Personal history
Sumi was one of the 3,000 Elves of Al Qahara, that lived in a hidden cavern deep within the Raurin Desert, in Southeast Faerun. They lived an isolated life, but trade with the desert oasis settlements was common enough that to see a group of armed Elves turning up didn’t raise any cause for alarm.
Where her sister, Shaela, took after their father in both looks and her skill with weaponry, Sumi took after their mother. She would spend hours each day in the underground oasis, learning to play her mother’s instruments and sing.
On that fateful day, when Tiamat and her Thunder of Dragons broke through into the Material Plane, the Blue Flight invaded the Raurin Desert. Sumi was practising in the Oasis when the Elder Blue Dragon burst up from under the city, laying waste to everything in its path as more of the creatures spewed forth from the burrow the big one had caused.
Sumi’s mother was lost in that initial assault, and her father sacrificed himself to allow Shaela to find Sumi. Shaela grabbed Sumi’s arm and hurried her through the secret way out, leading from the oasis, and led her sister through it, hoping to get to relative safety.
They stepped out into what could only be described as Hell. The entire sky raged with dark lightning clouds and large swathes of the desert had been turned into wicked spikes of glass from the endless lightning strike and swirling tornados ravaged the land for as far as the sisters could see. In the distance, Sumi could see a brood of younger blues heading their way, it was over, there was no way that Shaela could fight that many dragons, they were going to die there on that hellscape. Shaela gathered her sister into her arms, tears flowing freely down Sumi’s face as the world around them fell apart. But this was not how the Amakiir sisters would fall, both were teleported to Haven, where Shaela tries to keep Sumi out of harm's way… and Sumi desperately wants to follow in her sister's footsteps.

Sumi uses humour and music to diffuse most situations. She didn’t witness the same destruction as her sister did, so has a much clearer view on what is right and wrong.

Motivation
There is little joy in this new world. Much of the culture of Faerun was lost in the calamity. Sumi aims to shape the culture of this new world in the way she knows best… through artistic expression. If she can find some like-minded individuals on missions (when her sister doesn’t stop her) then she can start to bring happiness to the people that have lost everything, and start the healing process.
