Krelyra (Cray Lee Ra)

Krelyra and the Grandeur of Nobility

“Magic is a tempestuous force that ebbs and flows like the tides of the ocean, capable of both great creation and destructive power. Like the sea, magic is both beautiful and dangerous, a force that must be respected and understood to be properly wielded. However, this is a falsehood that has been perpetuated for far too long. Magic's true might is only revealed when it is channeled through the proper mind - one that is both disciplined and wise. In such hands, magic becomes a tool of unparalleled power, capable of shaping the world around us and fulfilling our deepest desires.” - Emperor Lazare Dumont D’Krelyra
In Krelyra, magic is more than just a tool - it is a way of life. The entire society is built around it, from the levitating runes that hold up their wagons to the small fire elementals that provide warmth in their homes. Even their labor is done by thralls from other planes, summoned and bound by powerful magics to serve their every need. The divide between the rich and the poor is as stark as the contrast between light and shadow. The wealthy bask in a world of magical splendor, living lives of excess and luxury. Meanwhile, the poor struggle to prove their potential through the acquisition of minor spells, fighting tooth and nail for every scrap of power.   Magic has even made its way into their government, which is a Magarchy ruled by the most powerful magical families in Krelyra. These families join The Houses of the Vovale Court  and rule the country with a heavy hand, granting favors and dispensing justice according to the whims of their magical power. In Krelyra, it seems, the name of the game is magic - and it is a game that only the most powerful can win.

Knowledge by any means

In Krelyra, magic is a way of life, and no spell is considered too taboo or forbidden. Even Necromancy, the practice of reanimating the dead, is allowed - though it is heavily regulated and closely monitored by the authorities. Despite this, Krelyra has become a refuge for "Misunderstood" mages who have been chased out of their home countries, seeking a place where they can practice their craft without fear of persecution. But make no mistake - this is not a lawless land. The Houses of the Vovale Court , have outlined proper magical practice within the Lois de la Magi - a code detailing the laws of magic that all practitioners must abide by.   Those who dare to break the Laws of Magic, however, face swift and brutal justice. Apprehended by the Judges - a group of elite battlemages who serve as judge, jury, and executioner - they are swiftly brought to trial and punished accordingly. In Krelyra, the freedom to practice magic comes with a heavy responsibility to use it wisely and within the bounds of the law.
