Tser Pool Encampment

The Vistani have a permanent encampment here, built around the pool near the base of the Tser Falls. The elder, Madame Eva, does not enjoy traveling at her advanced age. Madame Eva is renowned throughout the Dibril Valley for her abilities of foresight and fortune telling.

Madam Eva's Card Reading

Madam Eva invited the group into her tent to have their fortunes told. She drew five cards from a deck of Tarokka cards.
"Five wanderers! Five cards to show your fate!"
First she drew the Five of Swords, the Myrmidon.
"This card tells of history. Knowledge of the ancient will help you better understand your enemy. I see a woman guarded by flames. Find her and you will find what you seek."
Next she drew the Seven of Swords, the Hooded One.
"This is a card of power and strength. It tells of a weapon of vengeance: a sword of sunlight. What you seek was cast away, into the depths of cold and darkness."
Then she drew the One of Swords, the Avenger.
"This card tells of a powerful symbol of protection against those who would return from beyond the veil. The treasure lies in a dragon’s house, in hands once clean and now corrupted."
Then she drew a High Card, the Marionette.
"This card sheds light on one who will help you greatly in the battle against darkness. I hear a music box, or perhaps a death knell. It calls thee to a mountainside abbey, wherein you will find a girl who is more than the sum of her parts."
Last, she drew a High Card, the Broken One.
"Your enemy is a creature of darkness, whose powers are beyond mortality. This card will guide you in its destruction! I see a great beating heart, full of sorrow. You must stop it! Only then will evil show its weakness, and flee to the arms of the one who birthed it."
The road gradually disappears and is replaced by a twisted, muddy path through the trees. Deep ruts in the earth are evidence of the comings and goings of wagons.   The canopy of mist and branches suddenly gives way to black clouds boiling far above. There is a clearing here, next to a river that widens to form a small lake several hundred feet across. Five colorful round tents, each ten feet in diameter, are pitched outside a ring of four barrel-topped wagons. A much larger tent stands near the shore of the lake, its sagging form lit from within. Near this tent, eight unbridled horses drink from the river.   The mournful strains of an accordion clash with the singing of several brightly clad figures around bonfire. A footpath continues beyond this encampment, meandering north between the river and the forest’s edge.
