Warehouse District

Established in 748TH, this district attempted to pack as much storage space as possible within it's thick, heavily guarded walls as a deterrent to bandits and scorchers from raiding. Most of the warehouses were built of stone with tiled roofs and further divided inside by iron grates or sooden walls into smaller storage areas. A typical warehouse is two to three stories tall, though many don't have separate floors. Many have basements accessible by trap doors. Some, especially the smaller ones, are connected to each other by underground tunnels designed for pushing carts.   Today, most of these warehouses are abandoned, and most of the ones that were made out of wood have collapsed. A few have been converted into squats and for a few coppers, one can find an empty corner to sleep in relative safety thanks to numbers. Others are used as headquarters by small gangs of thieves, but none have tried to control thengihborhoods. The warehouses are firmly in the hands of the Force of the Eye , and businesses within them pay protection to Garlthik One-Eye . The warehouses are rarely good fo long-term residences as they have few amenities and were built with few windows save for those high up on the walls and too narrow for most Namegivers to fit through.   A number of the warehouses in recent years ahve been refurbished and converted back to their original purpose as merchants have once again began to operate within the city. These warehouses, in addition to paying the Force for protection, have large numbers of guards, mercenaries, traps and guard dogs. Even these protections sometimes don't stop determined, brave or skillful thieves however.
