We are the survivors. We are the chosen. We saw how the world burned, how the sun stopped moving, how the mountains spewed out fire and death. That we survived was a mercy. Now, after the Fire, we have been given a final opportunity to free this world of evil.
"I had to do it", said Sere. "Cauterizing a wound is painful, yes, but it saves lives. To let it fester would be a far greater crime - wouldn't you agree?"
We see the time for judgement approaching. The signs are clear! And each one of you sinners will be on the ground, bowing and feigning reverence. But when the Serpent returns it will know the true intentions we guarded in our hearts. And, now as then, the flames will cleanse the world of the unworthy.
The Fire is the greatest mystery our world knows and even now, eight centuries later, we are no closer to answering it as its victims. Who or what caused it? Why hasn't anything close to it happened since? It sets our calendars, it dictates our religions, it dominates our fears, yet it mocks us with incomprehensibility.
