Kingdom of Ayel

History

Ayel traces its lineage back to the Great Realms of Ayel, who existed before the Fire, and sees itself as their successor. In the year 16 AF it is refounded as a Republic by leading figures of the Great Realms. However it didn't stay that way. After a long and bloody civil war in the 3rd century Ayel was transformed into a kingdom with an absolute monarch. A violent revolution in the 520s forced the King to adopt a constitution and to reinstate the Hand of the people as well as the Great Council, elements of the former Republic. Since then, Ayel has remained a fairly stable regional power, famous for its sprawling cities and scientific achievements.

Territories

Ayel is mostly confined to the north-west of Xant. Reaching back to the days before the Fire, its citizens share a similar culture and language. The only exceptions are the few territories in Ienas and the western cap of Xant, who mostly govern themselves.

Foreign Relations

On peaceful terms with the Hokkan Empire and the Realm of Yane. Allied with Xakuma and the Kingdom of Marlund.
