The wastes of Mirvania

And none daresay what is left in those lands, for none remember what we have lost.
  -Eviar

Geography

The wastes of Mirvania are vast, mostly flat lands that are found east of the Hinilli mountains. It is much larger than the west of Aimane combined, for Mirvania was a vast land. It spreads from pole to pole and at least two thousand gallops east from the Hinilli. On its east it is lined by the sea. Once it had many rivers that provided water for a lush ecosystem, but the fire of the dragons had evaporated them all, leaving only empty gully's. The same fire had scorched the lands, meaning that no life is seen for miles and miles. No water means no plants, and no plants means no birds or beasts, and no birds or beasts means no humans.

Ecosystem

While at first sight the wastes are devoid of life, There are creatures living there right in view. The ancient Hablators have settled in certain positions in the lands, appearing as large mountains in the middle of dead plains. They feed on the heat from the core of the planet, and are very much alive, though they seem inanimate. Their existence means there are a couple of tiny oases in the wastes of Mirvania, their bodies covered in parasites that feed on them, and those parasites in turn are hunted by small birds. Each of these ecosystems is completely isolated from each other and from the west, showing unique lifeforms in each and every one.

Natural Resources

Although the lands were scorched, there is still an unknown amount of riches held by the earth of Mirvania. The Mirvani were the best equipped army in the ancient times, and their arms and armor used materials undreamt of. None of it survived the flight to mittrellion.

History

Once, the wastes were lush and filled with life. Before humanity came to Aimane it was an area filled with green pastures and sparse woodlands. Once humanity came to the area, it was cultivated to have many farmlands. It also became dotted with many towns and cities of the Mirvani.    During the war of the burning sea, the beatiful land of Mirvania was scorched beyond recognition to the wasteland it is today. The dragons burned the forests and the fields, turned the settlements to ruin and evaporated the water. It took them eight long months to finalize their terrible task, but in the end, nothing was left. The vast majority of the lands are still as they were when the dragons left, but In some areas, the plants, and even birds have returned. The greatest example is Herak. During the centuries after the destruction, the wind carried seeds to the shores of the wastes in the far northwest, and grass and trees came back to grow there. With it came the animals too. Herak is now no longer considered to be part of the wastes. There are also rumours of movement in the far east, on the eastern coast. They say the rivers have returned there and grass again grows among the ruins of the cities. The legendary city of Aerhold is said to be covered in greenery, and real trees are growing on top of the abandoned black tree. None of this can, however, be said for certain, for none have been able to travel by land before running out of food and water, and no ships dare enter the haunted sea of ice on the northern shores.    Besides these rumours, there have been efforts by Herak, Helioth, Etaliron and Goldahrir to colonize and rehabilitate the wastes. While Goldahrir has been working on vitalizing the land east of the mountains for many centuries, the other nations are still new to this reclamation of land. While much land has been appropriated in comparison to the size of these kingdoms, these are only scratches in the massive dead land.
