Ordo Daecious

The Ordo Daecious is the organizational body of the Daecious Religion. The Ordo, as they are commonly referred to as, worships the Daecians who are seen as a pantheon of dual deities, each pair representing opposing ideals or thoughts. The Order focuses most of its efforts on spreading their word and charitable acts as they attempt to bring more people into the fold. The primary center of the Order is located in the east but has a subsidiary headquarters in The Protectorate of Kolwidg-Rahmsburg-Volstedt where they act on behalf of the Ordo Daecious Primus. A militant force called the Ordo Sinistratum protects pilgrimages and holy sites across the continent. The Sinistratum also has within it a force of hunters who hunt down demons and evil, a form of sanctioned inquisitors who act within a strict set of rules.

Structure

The Order is led by The Archpatrios and a council of six Patrios. The Archpatrios is chosen for life by the Patrios upon the death of his predecessor. The Patrios can choose any ordained and sanctified member of the Order, nearly always a member of the Patrios. A Patrios always chooses his successor from within his Sectum, the Sectum being his own temple that is the holy headquarter for a region. The Patrios remain cloistered until an Archpatrios is chosen with only members sworn to silence permitted to come into contact to bring one meal a day to them. The longest recorded Cloistering was three hundred days during the Drought of Wisdom as it is affectionately called.   The Patrios act as the heads of the regional temples, the Sectum. Currently there are six Sectum and the Ordo Primusfecturn in the Holy City. The Sectum collects tithes, organizes holidays, and provides aid to the local poor. Many Sectum operate communal farms where the food is worked for by the poor and each is fed and even housed. Each regional Sectum also maintains an Ordo Sinistrum, the secretive militant arm of the Order. The Sectum technically answers to the Archpatrios directly but authority is often deferred to the Patrios in most cases. The Sinistrum must operate within the law of the land in most cases but the reach of the Order is far and kings would rather not anger the Order or face the potential wrath of the Gods.

Public Agenda

The Ordo Daecious seeks to spread the divine teachings of the Daecians, a pantheon of gods that trapped the Vaecians to protect Aeyos. The Sinistrum of the Order hunts out evil and corruption, combating the dark forces wherever they are found.

Mythology & Lore

In the beginning there was nothing except thought, incorporeal and ethereal in the vastness of the Primordium. The Aiar were the first to exist from the Primordium, formless, infinite beings, and they simply were. They were without body or form, they were. In the infinite time between their immaculate conception, brought into existence through divine will, they built. First the Daecians were crafted from the raw essence of the Primordium. Divine in nature and purpose these beings were given the gift of form, each given a purpose and ability to create. The Aiar told them to create as they created them, and the Aiar made themselves a form and this form was called Aeyos. The Aiar created infinite planes from the Primordium and their bodies became Aeyos, the forms of the Aiar created all that would be and all that was and sent the universe adrift in the Primordium.   The Daecians began to fill the planes with their creations and crafted tethers to attach them all to Aeyos, and along these tethers they spilled into Aeyos. Planes of fire, water, lightning, and air filled the infinite planes and became the foundations for all that would come from the Daecians. Then they created life. In their image, as the Aiar made them, they created the Vaecians to follow in their footsteps. The new world of Aeyos was filled with a new essence by the Aiar, choice. The Vaecians, unlimited in power and now with choice unlike their creators, discovered emotion. And with this they discovered sin.   The Vaecians created for a while but this choice overtook them and they wanted more than to be equals with their creators but the hold dominance over them. The Vaecians unleashed their plans for domination and forced the Daecians into conflict. For ten thousand years their war would sunder reality and scar Aeyos. The creations of the deities waged endless war on eachother to support the machinations of their creators. Great rifts opened across Aeyos and the Primordium leaked into Aeyos, the raw power of existence itself. In a final act to save Aeyos, the gift of the Aiar, the Daecians lured their rebellious children in a final battle. An empty plane was chosen and they battled for a hundred sunless years and this became the plane of war.   Eventually the Daecians positioned themselves with the Vaecians in a great trap and jumped to another plane of nothingness. Here they used the last of their strength and severed the tether that held this plane to Aeyos. Now doomed to float aimlessly in the Promordium the Daecians and Vaecians rely on their Aspects on Aeyos to do their bidding. This sudden severing of the cord caused the Great Cataclysm on Aeyos that destroyed a third of all creations. Distant, but present, the Daecians guide themselves back to Aeyos in hopes of reuniting with their creations once the Vaecians have been defeated. The Vaecians hold hope of usurping their own creators one day. Until then the Ordo Daecious seeks on fragments of the power of the divine and calls out to them to return to them, acting as a beacon of faith to guide their gods back to them.
