Aeyos

Aeyos is an ancient world that has seen a dozen immortal empires rise and fall across its surface. Some claim the world was brought into being by the song of the Sylvan Father, others claim it was crafted by the children of the Primordial Being, others proposing that is the eye of a great serpent who devours stars. Regardless of the creation of the world, one thing is a concrete fact, the world is old, ancient even to the elves. Thousands of years have born witness to the long forgotten empires, scant artifacts of their existence being found far and few between as kingdoms are built atop their graves. Little is known of who they were or where they went, and many speak of a cycle of life and death that envelopes the world. As is seen in the world it is the natural order of life and death and rebirth. That which came first can not be indefinite, even elves die eventually. The world is vast and much is left to speculation and mystery, every day is a struggle for survival and progress is replaced by sustenance. Little in the ways of technology exist outside of the arcane wonders guarded jealously by secret magi and cults. Monsters and plagues are real, roaming the lands for their own survival, or on occasion purely for destruction. Those brave enough to pierce the fog of fear may reach great power and knowledge, or simply be consumed by it. Thus is the cycle of Aeyos, of life, and death, and rebirth.
