Atlantis? No, Atlantia. - Prompts #8 Myth about a landmark

Prompts #8 Myth about a landmark - Atlantis, no Atlantia
The Island of Atlantis is the basis for many myths and speculations about ancient aliens. In the world of Relic of Time and Shadows War, the Aetherians built the City of New Hope, Atlantia, on an island. Their technology allowed them to build a climate-controlled city. Their innate ability to heal and use ‘magic’ plus their longer lifespans and the longer lifespans of their half and quarter human children made them seem god-like. There are many myths in the human world about a city of “the sky people” or “children of the stars”, but the truth in my world makes the fiction seem tame.
  Excerpt from Relic of Time…
Ezra turned to stare at the painted plaster panels. One showed Kars standing on the edge of a building in front of a modern cityscape with something that looked like an AR strapped to his back. Another showed him, standing in a field of ice like Antarctica but in front of him was a break in the ice; a tropical city stood above a warm sea. Standing on a black tower in the city was his inverse, dark haired and red-eyed. Ezra stared at the language. It looked like a combination of Celtic runes and the ancient Greek alphabet. “It says, “During the time of the corrupted ice, the lost prince will save the city from the dark prince and his seeing stone shall lead the people home”,” Kars quoted his childhood language. “You’ve done this? Been there?” Ezra asked shocked. “It looks like Atlantis from the stories.” Kars shook his head, “I don’t think so. I don’t remember. It might be something I haven’t done yet. A lot of these panels show the future, I think.” “Except the ones that show Davin and I in the past,” Ezra reminded. “Maybe not. Either way, it is still in your future,” Kars sighed.

Excerpt from Ancient Ice Age… Present Day...
“So Daisy... Jon says you found Atlantis.” Daisy turned away from Karstien, suddenly the fragile Daisy who buried her family and friends was gone, and Daisy the manic analyst was back. She sounded completely changed, looked different, excited fingers flying across the keyboard. “Almost... it is more like pre-Atlantis. Kaleth called it Atlantia. The language is a root language older than the one Karstien learned as a child, older than the language from the tomb tablets. This image shows something called ‘the Tear of Heaven’s Hope’. It says that The Tear carried the children to a New Hope, and it fell into the tears, that part means the ocean I think.” “A new hope?” asked Fianna, “Is that a place?” Daisy shrugged, “Yes. That place was a new hope. The Tear was a ship of some kind, I believe it might have been a spaceship. In this one, the children of The Tear, grew up and married the people from the land, and their children were heroes OR monsters.” “That sounds like something from the bible,” Taylor said, frowning. Daisy nodded, continuing, “Genesis 6 and about dozen other places in most of the oldest myths of the world. But it is the wording that is strange. It indicates an ‘either-or’ correlation verses the ‘and’ correlation more common to the other versions. This one is too blurry to read, it said something about time waiting for a light to rise, and the seeing stone leading the children home. I need a better image.”

Twelve thousand years before present day...
They rode the snow machines across the frozen wasteland all night, by late afternoon they had arrived across the sea from the great city. Daisy had place them far enough away from the city that their arrival point would not be detected. Near the edge of the ice, they set up a temporary camp in an ice valley out of sight of Atlantia. Their zodiac would carry them across to the city after nightfall. Damien would have no idea they were here until they wanted him to. Together, they climbed the ridge, to look at the city through binoculars. It was a paradise of gardens and waterways which ringed the central city, at the edge of the of the harbor was a lighthouse. “Oh, wholly crap,” Ezra exclaimed, “The freaking ice just stops.” Moyra was gaping like a fish, she grabbed his binoculars and looked through them, the strap still around his neck, half-choking him. “It looks like the tropics, how is this possible?” Davin asked. “The city protects itself from the ice, as it would from any natural disaster.” Allura explained, like it was perfectly normal for a 60-foot wall of ice to stop in a perfect circle. There are a few places where there are crevasses down to the water. Finally freeing his head from the strap of the binoculars, Ezra gave a low whistle, “Think of all the lives we could save with that tech.”

Historical Basis

The Island of Atlantis is the basis for many myths and speculations about ancient aliens. In the world of Relic of Time and Shadows War, the Aetherians built the City of New Hope, Atlantia, on an island. Their technology allowed them to build a climate-controlled city.

Cultural Reception

Their innate ability to heal and use ‘magic’ plus their longer lifespans and the longer lifespans of their half and quarter human children made them seem god-like. There are many myths in the human world about a city of “the sky people” or “children of the stars”, but the truth in my world makes the fiction seem tame.
