Oclost
Swept through with snow all around the year, Oclost is little more than a collection of hovels around a large, dead tree. The outskirts of the village still show the signs of the historical conflict with the Eladrin of Gleamelm Glade such as the ruins of buildings among snowdrifts, blackened stumps poking free from the pristine white. Travel to and from the village is hindered by weather and terrain, though for those who brave the journey it is often said the views at night are almost worth the effort.

Government
Oclost has no structured governing body in place. The population operate on the basis of necessity, and as such have a tight-knit communal spirit. The hamlet is welcoming of others, though rarely for long periods. Oddly they do seem to have some sort of guidance or leadership, but not one which is localised in the hamlet itself.
Defences
Without walls and without guards, the hamlet at first seems to be defenceless. However, its people can readily travel south or flee into the water in their boats, or even further north into the Steelbark Pines to avoid danger. The times when danger has come to Oclost it has been avoided through the above methods, and upon return, the hamlet has been untouched.
Industry & Trade
Oclost has little trade since its original export has become unsustainable. Before the Cataclysm a circle of Druids acted as leaders and guides for the hamlet, teaching them how to care, harvest, and maintain the Steelbark Pines. The wood produced was highly desirable for its properties, and while the hamlet did not experience much growth due to issues with sustainability, it generated a modest income through the Steelwood.
After the Cataclysm, the hamlet was unable to sustain itself when the circle left them. Without their techniques, not only was Steelwood ruined by conventional methods of harvest but any seeds which rooted grew into normal trees instead of Steelpines. Unable to sustain or use the Steelwood, the quickly dropped out of any bartering routes that were developing, leaving them alone in the north. Now, the only materials which they can trade in are cold-weather clothing and packages of rationed supplies.
Infrastructure
The buildings are primarily created from wood and thatch, crafted from woven fir branches. Towards the coast, an open-air building exists for the purpose of salting and drying fish, while nearby a squat, enclosed silo houses and dries firewood. Fishing boats have no boathouse and instead are dragged to beach away from the tidemark, ragged rope bound around large stones anchoring in case of storms.
Assets
The hamlet has no guards or armoury present, and if in danger will rely upon the tools of their trades and old, untouched farming equipment. The clothing to survive in the cold environment can be obtained here through trade for those who plan to spend a long time in the frozen lands.
History
Oclost was founded to harvest the Steelwood in the north. However, soon after it began attempts at logging the forest, the hamlet was attacked. Logging tools were destroyed, the sawmill ruined by a tree which sprouted through the middle of the building and machinery, and animals attacked any who entered the woods.
The issues came to a halt when a circle of Druids approached the hamlet. They organised a peace between the settlers and the aggressors, devising a way to gather the valuable Steelwood without triggering another attack. Although the rate of harvesting was severely reduced, it still enabled the gathering of Steelwood without a dangerous battle and prevented other settlements from being made nearby with the same intention, ensuring control of Steelwood for the Humans.
Architecture
Much of the buildings are composed of wood and thatched with woven fir branches to keep the interiors warm and dry. Stone is rarely used, though shaped blocks have been crudely worked for the wood drying silo to keep the interior drier than possible with wood alone.
Geography
The area to the north is composed of ice, snow and tall pine trees before meeting the frozen coast. The south and west freezes and thaws with summer and winter, alternating between snowy wastes and barely farmable grassland.
Natural Resources
With fish from the ocean for food, the other natural resources are meagre wild grains that develop in the summer and the wood from the north; regular and steel varieties.
