Bukhisal
Destroyed mercantile facilities dot the wastelands, sand and ash consuming much of the surface
Once a powerful mercantile kingdom, Bukhisal is now equal to the other kingdoms; lands destroyed or rendered uninhabitable, the population decimated and restricted to safe regions of the kingdom only, their tools and resources strung out and weakened. Being built upon a foundation of economy and trade, Bukhisal was particularly hit by the Calamity, with much of its infrastructure collapsing as money, gems, and precious metals became worthless. Its adaptation has been slow, but steadily the people are finally pulling back from the brink. Economies based on materials and tools are still economies, and the old talents of Bukhisal are once more finding their footing.
Geography
Dominated by a now-arid sprawl of land, the western region of Bukhisal is primarily inhabitable now; though the central region is less inhabitable, with a washout of aridity affecting its sustainable life. While initially only the Thawcaps were present in the continent, both Rise, The and The Flows came into existence during the Catalysm.
Fauna & Flora
Plantlife is limited to the western half of the continent, where dense and sprawling forests exist. To the east, plantlife thins out until the desert, where it ceases to exist. Where it does exist, however, provides a valuable sustainable resource for food, tools, shelter and more. Additionally, the animal life in the forested regions has prospered with the reduced level of activities such as hunting, trapping and logging that used to occur.
Natural Resources
Bukhisal managed to salvage some of the developed grain plants, and though the success of farming has bee sporadic due to the changes in terrain, surface farms are beginning to slowly develop once more. Despite this, the farmlands attract attention from animals and raiders, leading to the loss of any successful crops.
Materials such as stone and ores are still extracted, but much of the capability for smelting and refining has been lost due to destruction of locations and the reduction to ocean travel. Without the means to forge metals, much of their ability cannot be replaced due to inability for recreating delicate or fine components.
History
Bukhisal established itself quickly as a mercantile power, through trade and negotiation, while securing the position through becoming the established centre for economic stability. In short, the exchange rates between different currencies was established here and moderated by the Bukhisal nation. While many races often managed their own currencies, the inter-currency ratios provided the mercantile power that caused their reputation to develop.
When the Cataclysm struck, global currency instantly became worthless and without this core aspect, Bukhisal lost much of their influential power. This was somewhat mitigated by the damage to other kingdoms, as it ensured that none could make an attack or seizure of land from Bukhisal in their time of weakness. While they still retained a number of strengths to survive with, their primary method of ensuring peace is long gone.
Tourism
Visitors to Bukhisal are somewhat regular events; with relatively short trips between it and Aesmaril or Kerulisan , many who can barter or trade for it attempt to make the trip. While Bukhisal is not necessarily any easier to live in, it's generally safer due to the lower rate of Living Spells and Accretions comparatively with the other continents.
