Marduk

Also known as Bail Bayuni by the dwarves.

Summary

Marduk is a legendary warrior who ended the The War in Heaven by vanquishing The Demon Moon and his generals, Tiamat and Rahab.

Historical Basis

Marduk may have been based on a historical warrior, although his battles with Rahab, Tiamat, and the Demon Moon are likely metaphors for a leader brought order out of chaos, as Tiamat is usually considered to be a representation of disorder and chaod. He may have been an early king or war-leader of some kind. References to him being half-elf and half-human may be a reference to an alliance he may have forged between the two species.

Spread

Marduk (or Bail) is sometimes described as one of the Aia, sometimes as a half-human, half-elf, and other times as just a human. The legends that refer to him as a half-elf call him the "first child of Aelf and Man".

In Literature

Marduk/Bail and his battle against Tiamat are attested in the dwarven epic "The Hallows of the King".
