Lankia

Thick forests permeate Lankia with high mountains cresting over the treetops as silent guardians. What little pastureland on the fringes of the forests is broken by the many mountain streams that feed into the Rahn and Sahn rivers bordering Lankia.

Geography

Lankia lies between the Colm Mountains to the west and the Etrucian mountains to the east. To the north the Rahn river marks the border between lankia and The Vael. Lankias southern border meets the Shattered Sea. Running from the western Colm Mountains to the eastern Etrucian mountains through Lankia are the Basse Mountains with Mount Palant as its highest peak. On the southern slopes of the Basse mountains lie the Golden Bough a forest where the trees share a unique golden hue.

Fauna & Flora

Fauna

The old forests of Lankia are well known for their monstrous wolves. Common knowledge says the only thing larger than them is their ferocity. at night when wolves howl the Lankish make sure to stay inside with the doors bolted.

In the foothills of the Basse mountains many a traveler has met their end devour by badgers. The Lankish badger is larger and temperamental than others and have been known to harass any that cross their path.  

High in the Basse Mountains griffins roost. Sometimes cattle or sheep will go missing, sometimes a person. These disappearances are always discarded as the work of wolves.

 

Fauna

Many deciduous old growth forests run the length of the Basse Mountains. The oldest of which is the Golden Bough. These trees have four tined leafs coloured a pale yellow and its timber has a grain similar to oak.

Timber

Lankia is abundant with old growth forests, the oldest of which is the Golden Bough on the southern slopes of the Basse Mountains.

Ore

At the western end of the Basse Mountains there are many gold and iron mines. These mines have been in operation since before the coming of the Aenian Empire. At the eastern end of the Basse Mountains lies the fortress of Gevaudan, once a dwarven fortress famed for it's iron and adamantine mines.
