The Fisher's Farm & the Jekiro River

As the party travels along the river, they hear a loud cry. They spot an injured fisher bird along the riverbanks crying out in distress. They decide to see if they can help it and they find that it has been attacked by some kind of predator. They also notice that it has a saddle of some sort attached to it, along with other straps and buckles and realize that it must belong to someone nearby. The party then decides to return the injured fisher to its owner, and before long they find the farmer who thanks them for their help in finding it. He offer shelter for the night and the option to fly where they need to with some trained fishers, in exchange for killing the predator that preys on his fishers. The party agrees and goes to his farm where they must lie in wait for the predator to attack. Once it is disposed of, the farmer lends them a few fishers to fly the rest of their journey to Lake Skye where Silverspire is.

The Jekiro River, often referred to as “the Jek”, is a long and wide river the flows east towards central Palatheria. Many people traveling to Silverspire use this river to sail along. The river is not ideal for large ships but rather more suited for smaller boats and the like. (Most trade ships headed for Silverspire use a different river further north. The Jekiro River is mostly forested on both sides for 90% of its length. At its beginning in the west, coming in from the coast, the region is very hilly and the river runs in a steep valley for about 20-30 kilometers. The river runs for about 350 kilometers ending in Landing Lake in eastern Palatheria. A lake surrounded by dense woodland. Along this river there is a farm where Fishers are bred and trained. A Fisher is a large river bird that can be domesticated and used to fly on. This form of travel is uncommon in Selenica as the birds are native to the Marlin Archipelago. The farmhouse itself is built in a style that is seen most often on the Marlin Archipelago as well. It is built much like a rounded pyramid, starting off very large and round at the bottom and getting smaller as it go up in elevation. There is an upper level to the home with small deck that wraps around the house. The ground floor is split between the large main room and the hall which juts out from the core of the house with a separate entrance, also sporting a rounded peaked roof (see example picture). On the farm itself, there is a large barn where the birds themselves are kept, as well as a man-dug creek leading to a pond where the fishers bathe a feed.
