Pocket Dimension
When the party first enters the pocket dimension via the portal in the Foxwood Temple, everyone is awed and amazed by the high tech facility they find themselves in. Everything is so advanced compared to their world, they don’t even know how to comprehend what they’re seeing. They are greeted by the scientists there and it’s not long until all of them have gathered around the party. Arc shares that they got there through a stone gateway buried beneath the Foxwood Temple. Everything is confusing to the scientists because they are unaware that several hundred years have passed since they disappeared. The party relays to them what the world is like and what is currently happening. Frith asks how any of this is possible and the researchers explain what happened in Alda before the dimension split. After this, the party asks for their help in stopping Ghallus and they tell them about how there was a group of fanatics in Alda planning to bring down the Keepers through the of Arvalis powered shard cannons that have the potential to weaken a Keeper to the point of being vulnerable to death at the hands of a regular person. The party would need to travel to Alda, a place now believed the world over to be an extinct civilization with no trace left anywhere. The researchers use their machines and computers to confirm that large parts of Alda still exist, including the capital city of Archaia and the old Science & Research Facility. They deduce that Ghallus must have put a ‘cloaking dome’ over top of it. They also tell the party that they can use the Key of Alda to navigate to where it is and to get past the barrier. One of the scientists then says that they can outfit their ship with a device that will give it the ability to fly. They then use the Key of Alda, to open a portal that leads to their ship.
Purpose / Function
The Pocket Dimension was once a laboratory in Alda, secretly founded by rogue scientists in order to study the Arvalis and its properties concerning time and space manipulation.
Architecture
The labratory looks like something out of a science fiction movie. Everywhere can be found futuristic machines and equipment. Computer screens and holographic workstations can be found in large rooms meant for scientific research. All of the technology is beyond modern and runs on a mysterious power source. The walls are constructed with a metal not known to the current people of the world and feels like a hard vinyl plastic. The style of furniture decor is very modern with rounded edges and sleek design.
History
These studies were considered fringe and impossible to study through regular means of science and observation, so it was banned among the scientists working in the Science & Research Facility in Archaia, the capital city of Alda. In order to study the Arvalis thoroughly for this, a group of researchers went rogue and in the dead of night secretly were able to extract a piece from the Arvalis itself and stole it. That night they left for their hidden laboratory and were never heard of again. The reason for this was that during their research (long before Alda was destroyed) they had a number of breakthroughs in understanding how the Arvalis could manipulate time and space and in they began experimenting with it. They were finding a lot of success in being able to travel back and forth in time and also some success in teleportation and creating wormholes! However, during one fateful experiment, they accidentally created a brand new dimension that engulfed the entire lab out of its present existence. In their ‘pocket dimension’, the scientists discovered that they had no way of returning to their home dimension, that is until Arc and company suddenly entered the lab through a portal 10 years later (which in actuality has been several hundred years).
