The Testing

“Welcome, Kyra Alkrose. Your testing will begin shortly.” The woman had a voice carved from ice. Cold, commanding. So many questions hurtled through Kyra’s mind she couldn’t give voice to any of them. The woman reached out and placed her gloved hands on either side of Kyra’s head. A voice filled her, the woman’s voice, but amplified, almost to the point of pain. ARE YOU READY… KYRA? She had no chance to reply, if she even knew how to. Her eyes closed, and darkness took her.

History

The Testing of new students into the Dreord Vix is conducted by the Fys Sonarii, a mysterious group of people who live far in the north. They have telepathic abilities, able to read minds and amplify power. The final testing before students are inducted into the School Proper consists of a Fys Sonarii drawing out the person's magical ability to it's current maximum, to both estimate the extent of their potential strength, and to decide what classification and school of magic they will be placed in.

Execution

A Councilor takes the students down to a transport chamber on one of the lowest levels of the Dreord Vix. This is attuned to a clearing not far away from the fortress, although the students don't know that. On the Fys Sonarii side, it is also a ceremony of sorts. Fys Sonarii have many different duties, but one of them is testing the prospective students of the Dreord Vix. The testing consists of one student and one Fys Sonarii. The Fys Sonarii lays their hands on the students head and telepathically draws them to their power. After, the student joins the people who have already been tested, and after all students are tested, they walk back to the Dreord Vix together. A huge celebration and ceremony is prepared at the Dreord Vix by Councilors and older students. New students also get to meet the other members of their specific school.

Components and tools

The lowest level traveling chamber is the only thing used; it teleports student sone by one to their testing clearing.

Observance

Each new batch of students has to wait three months through preliminary testing and schooling, and then they get Tested.
