Bukrodaak, The Garror Sand-ships

The garror were forced from their homeland after their creation, and thus were forced into the desert of the west beyond the barren plains the fae call the Deadlands. The garror learned to adapt quickly to the harsh heat of the desert and the lack of water, and though there were casualties their kind survived.
This was due in part to their ingenious modification of the carts given to them when they were forced out of the faelands. Unable to be pulled across the sand easily, the garror realised that the loose sand was parted like water by their feet and the wheels. They broke the wheels off the carts, fashioned rudders for the underside, and turned the canvas covers into sails.
Among the garror were mages, the dreamers that had convened with the spirits, and these mages conjured wind to push the carts along, turning the sand into an ocean and making the garror fast masters of their domain.
These vehicles came to be known as bukrodaak, or sand-ships. Over the centuries these ships became larger, more refined, and allow the garror to cross the desert in days rather than the months or years it might have taken otherwise. Each ship has at least two mages on board to provide the wind for the sails, taking shifts so that they do not tire or corrupt themselves.
As their abilities grew, the bukrodaak became more than tools of survival, they became tools of warfare. Though the garror are fortunate to have not fought other races on a large scale, the yearly skirmishes between different wandering tribes and territories of the sands have led to the necessity for mobile war machines.
It is not uncommon to find five or six bukrodaak on either side of a battle, and it appears much like a battle on water only that garror can have solid footing if they jump off their ships. The sound of rushing sand is enough to embolden of terrorise the garror, depending on how high they rate their combat skills. Even if the ship is not on the attack, the reaction is so ingrained into the garror that their reaction is instantly antagonistic.
