No land suffered greater in the Lullaby War than Ethelia. A land of splendor and beauty, Ethelia was the most advanced and powerful of the nations. Now it exists only in history books. When the Sovereign Host cast down the Forces Below, their final battle shattered Ethelia and plunged almost the entirety of its landmass beneath the waves of the Crystalline Ocean.
What little remains of Ethelia is known now as the Fractured Isles, the broken corpse of a once-great nation.
But perhaps this does a disservice to the people now calling the Isles home. In modern times, the Fractured Isles are a cultural melting pot. People from all walks of life come to the Isles to be free to do as they please. It is not a lawless land - rather, in the Isles, more value is placed on one’s personal honor, valor and any agreements forged than any decree set out by a sovereign.

Demography and Population

Blue and bronze dragonborn are a common sight amongst the rigging of ships, though dwarves tend to prefer keeping their feet on dry land if they venture to the Isles at all. Tieflings are drawn to the Isles in particular as they face less prejudice for the fiendish circumstances of their birth. This is where Sea Elves and Tritons are found more commonly than elsewhere.
All other races are found equally here, for the Fractured Isles welcome anyone and everyone who longs for a life lived free on the open seas.
