Summary
The Spire of Etubaris is the home of Equillis the Wearer and the last Chancers, who were given the plot of land as gift from Hells Herald in exchange for a large sum of silver, as well as rendering their assassin capabilities whenever he pleased. Despite Equillis' want to have a lack of allegiance to anyone, this exchange rendered him a mere servant of the Hellistic Chrome. 
THE POWER OF THE SPIRE
Equillis, with the help of hired labor, built the fortress estate to create a home for the last Chancers, an ancient breed of human who live significantly longer than their ancestors. Chancers have no magic, but Equillis secretly drew magic from the Dark Crystal in the Chrome, placing its power in the long spire atop the keep. A shield against inhuman forces covers the surrounding area, rendering Hells Herald and other darkspawn from the Dark Pit unable to attack this stronghold. The Herald is aware of this deception, but choses not to punish his ally, in order to preserve his services.
