Demography and Population

Most people live either at the very north of the duchy, or the very south. There are no other major population centers in the 50 miles between the 2 settlements. Almost everyone is human, at 76% of the population, with the other 18% being Halflings, and the final 6% is assorted.

Territories

They control about 2/3 of the west coast of their peninsula. Most of it is empty fields separating the 2 major settlements. There people are loyal, to the point where most of them are willing to die for their country, leading their army to be one of the toughest in the world.

Military

Their entire army is professional. The standing defenses of their border are about 1421 soldiers strong, and since their border is only about 55 miles long, that is 25 soldiers per mile of border. At full levy, their army stands at 6200 strong, making each mile of border house over 100 soldiers. There are only 3 generals of the army, the ducal one and the 2 count ones. They usually are in charge of training and recruiting troops. They also advise the leaders in millitary tactics.

Religion

There are 2 major religions in the land. Order and Trickery. The north is controlled by trickery. The religion was originally brought over from the nomadic halflings who settled there, and now they worship those gods. In the south, defense of the nation is much more important, so they worship the gods of order and war, as well as the god of life, as they are losing the war badly, and so they seek help from the gods of life. The gods of life are also powerful in the north. There is actually a council of religious figures due to the religious divide. All of the 4 churches elect one figurehead to be their representative. They count as one vote on the imperial council. Each level of control also has their own figureheads.

Foreign Relations

They hate their neighbor to the east, as they once controlled all the land but were kicked out of it in the current war they are going through. They recieve many goods, support, and other supplies from the Dotskish Empire, who backs them, but they are pretty much embargoed from Eastern Trade and only trade with the Dotskish Empire.

Agriculture & Industry

Khalid is a major industrial power. They dont have many goods themself, but they make profit off of purchasing cheap goods from foreign lands, and manufacturing them into high quality items, then selling it for a big increase in profit. They make a lot of money by taxing these goods as well. For example, Khalid purchases a large amount of iron from another nation, manufactures it into weapons, armor, and tools, then sells it to their own people and other nations for a huge profit.

Trade & Transport

They are mostly blockaded from eastern trade, so most trade they have to do has to sail around the entire continent, which by then its easier just to trade with the Dotskish or Milian Empires, meaning they only really trade with the Dotskish Empire, or recieve trade goods from far away.

Education

They have a high quality college for bards, known as the College of Shadows, which teaches the art of staying in the shadows. Many bards, thieves, assasins, and arcane tricksters are educated here. Illusion and Enchantment wizards also recieve education at this place. It serves a wide range of people.  There is also a low-class medical school, that doubles as a religion school, and teaches about divine healing and also scientific healing.  There is another low-class school for war. Most people who join the standing army recieve education here. Most poor people attend this school, as its their only shot at a better life.  The final school is one of political study. It also is a place of religious study. It educates many clerics, nobles, paladins, and even some bards.    Most poor people cannot afford to go to high-class schools, and instead are forced to attend either medical school or the army. Its either that or get a job in industry.

Infrastructure

The sewage is rather advanced, with working plumbing, and even a beginning concept of the shower. There is one main road crossing the entire country, and a wall surrounds most of the border. The cities also have very strong walls, made with phenomenal masonry.

Standard currency.
Major Imports
They import many raw, unrefined goods into their cities and towns, which they then manufacture into specialized goods, and sold for a big profit
Legislative Body
At the top of the power structure we have the Archduke, who is in control of the nation. They have a council, and the 6 people (council and archduke) decide the laws of the entire duchy. Note: The archduke cannot pass anything without the councils consent, although he can fire his council members whenever he wants, but the rest of the council can force him to abdicate the throne, leaving the next in line to take control. So pretty much the archduke appoints their council. When they die, the next archduke makes a new council.  next down we have the 2 counts that rule over 2 parts of the duchy. North and south. They pass rules that only apply to their half, again with the same council system as above.  finally we have barons/mayors/burgomasters. These people control only a settlement, with no other lands. They can pass whatever laws they want in their lands.
Judicial Body
Each power segment has their own appointed judges, with the ducal level being sort of like the US Supreme court, and the whole system is very similar to the US court system.
