Creating Characters
Generate Ability Scores
Method V PHB pg 19
Choose a Race
Human, Dwarf, Gnome, Half-Elf, and Elf(1 in 20 chance to play an elf) are the only playable races at start of campaign
Choose a Character Class
Players may choose any of the classes found in the players handbook. The only specialist wizard is illusionist, and illusionists are reserved for Gnome characters. All other player character wizards are considered magic users. The cleric is a general priest of any religion.
Choose an Alignment
Players can’t start as an evil character
Choose Weapon Proficiencies
Players will choose weapon proficiencies. All initial weapon proficiencies must be chosen at character creation. Click Weapon Specialization Rules for house rules on weapon specialization.
Non-Weapon Proficiencies
Players will choose non-weapon proficiencies. Additional languages can be substituted for non-weapon proficiency points. Each character starts with double the number of proficiencies points (Warriors and Rogues start with 6, and Wizards and Priests start with 8. Click Ability and Proficiency Checks to see house rules on ability and proficiency checks.
Starting Money
Characters will roll for starting money on the Initial Character Funds Table PHB pg 89. They are required to spend all their money on equipment. After purchasing their equipment, players will roll a 1d4+1. The result of that roll is how much silver the character has to start the campaign.
Starting Spells
A priest will have access to the spells his religion or religious order has taught him, or the spells his God has granted him. The DM will provide a list of know prayers that can be asked for and granted.
A wizard will start with a spell book with Detect Magic, Read Magic, and 3 to 6(1d4+2) 1st level spells chosen at random.
Combat

Hit Points
Player Characters will begin with maximum hit points for their chosen class. Click Hit Points, Injury and Natural Healing to see house rules on healing and injury.

Magic and Magic Items
Wizards and priests who can perform magic or miracles are rare. Magic items are rare and will not be for sale very often.
