Suriana Peninsula (Sir-ee-ana Pen-in-Syu-la)

Suriana Peninsula is the most beholdent to their tradtions out of all of Adma-Alta's overworld holdings. While they have bent to the Altans will, allowing some of their culture to seep into their own, major holidays mostly, they have remained seperated and different by choice. Their stubborn refusal to obey is personified by Abin Qorrus, a religous leader who has been protesting Altan control of Surian life for the past twenty years.

Structure

Suriana has been under the despotic rule of an appointed Altan governor for most of their Altan history. The current govenor is Govenor Yoris Fellon. He is especially hated because he has been cracking down on religious protests, and several of the arrested protesters have been "disapearring", never to be seen again. The Leader most Surians want in power is Banin Qorrus, the current head of Surian religous life. Most important governmental roles are filled with Altans, Surians who abandoned their faith, or spies working against Altan interests.

Culture

Most Surians view their world through the eyes of one of their religious tenets: Deference is earned. If you want to be deferred to (be in positions of power, respect, and authority) you must earn it. Nepotism and other forms of unearned deference are seen as blasphemy and an insult, making the governor and governments' unearned power over them even more infuriating.
