Witches
Witches wield magic in a manner reminiscent of ancient times before the establishment of the Weave. They seek to liberate magic from its constraints by tapping into their power through an Affliction—a mark left from a ritual that allows them to bypass the Weave. Unlike wizards who rely on logic or sorcerers who harness innate abilities, witches draw upon sensation and emotion, connecting with primal energies and ancient forces. The type of Affliction a witch possesses influences how they wield their magic. Coven witches forge bonds of community and loyalty, drawing on each other's power through a shared Affliction. Infernal witches make pacts with devils, binding them to create a Grimoire, a practice akin to a warlock pact but often unwillingly on the devil's part. Nature witches devote themselves to the preservation of nature, undergoing a transformative journey into the wilds to bond with the natural world. These Afflictions manifest as unique marks on the witch's body, symbolizing their connection to their chosen path of magic. Through various rituals and rites, witches seek to free their magic from the influence of the Weave and the deity Mystra, whom they resent.
