Trading Carriage
Ne'er before in my life had I seen such a beautiful dame. I knew she was the one for me when she told me we should run away in a trading caravan and forget all of our troubles!A Trading Carriage is a commonly used vehicle all over Acate, whose use has greatly defined culture as Acatians know it. Most trade happens through the use of land travel, as the oceans are home to dangerous creatures whose paths aren't as clearly defined as roads are.
Appearance
Trading Carriages are essentially just a large wooden or metal platform with walls on each side and wheels attached.
Very basic carriages are made out of wood with only slight walls on the long sides and a slight platform on the sides so passengers can sit. They have four wheels with few spokes and a ledge in the front for the driver to sit upon.
Average carriages are made out of a sturdy waxed or painted wood with taller walls all around the platform. Ledges for sitting are larger for more comfort, and there are gaps in the back and front for access to the carriage. Wooden shafts come out to attach properly the carriage to Thundoxen. Four wheels with many spokes are common, reinforced with metal to keep them from breaking as easily.
Usage
Trading Caravaneers use these to move between outpost to town to city, trading and selling their wares as well as transporting people for extra money.
Decoration
Caravans often have a cover over their carriages with colours and iconography depicting their trading company, though not all caravaneers are a part of a company. Names can be given to well-loved carriages, and they're painted or etched into the sides. Lanterns or coloured flags hang off of wooden roofs or from small metal arches. Sometimes caravaneers spend extra money on getting fancy and sturdy wheels and then paint them with neat designs to look good whilst spinning.
