Regression
We're here for something. Always here for a purpose. Isn't that what He says? We have to learn from the past- what we've done, what our ancestors have done. The answers aren't always easy to find, no, but the journey is as important as the answers you find.
Transmission & Vectors
Regression is a mental illness which spreads from one person to another by the spread of Lybrynn's ideals while also being affected by an obsessive compulsive disorder or depression. The ideas seem to be quite popular with these types of people, since the ideals deal with pouring over the past.
Causes
While Regression can exist in anyone, people with OCD or depression are at an increased risk. All of those exposed to the ideals of Lybrynn are at risk of Regressing.
Symptoms
The first signs of Regression are increased response times in communication, daydreaming, sleeping a lot, writing extensively, and looking for or obsessing over nostalgic objects. Regression fully manifests as self-seclusion and a studying of the past while refusing to take care of oneself in the present. It can also be observed as doing reckless things in an attempt to obtain a nostalgic 'high', where one's actions can cause injury to oneself.
Treatment
There isn't much of a treatment for Regression. Familial support and support from friends while also pushing for self-care and present-day activities. Those who live in wealthy locations can try to seek help from therapists, but those in more rural locations aren't as lucky.
Prevention
The main prevention for Regression is avoiding the teachings of Lybrynn and staying ignorant of his ideals.
Cultural Reception
Regression is seen as a blessing by followers of Lybrynn, as they see the Regressed as hand-touched prophets. They see them as leaders and see them as having special sight that allows them to see the important pieces of the past that can be learned from. Priests and priestesses of Lybrynn often have Regression, but those who don't often fake the fact that they do just to be accepted by their peers.
For the rest of the population, Regression is looked down upon, and those who have it aren't very useful in the workforce unless kept as librarians, historians, or anthropologists. Rural folk typically hide their Regressed behind closed doors, embarrassed for them for their condition.
