Fae Fluff

Warm as a summer's day, as comfortable as a cloud, and light as a feather!
Fae Fluff is a special material harvested from cute and fluffy fae. These fae are children of Yuwan, a ram cult-god, who grows them like fleece.

Physical Characteristics

The fluff itself feels like dense pollen or a polyester fill, but incredibly soft like a bird's down. It is off-white in colour, and normal sizes for the fluff is about the size of a grapefruit.

Origin

Yuwan, a great, three-story large cult-god with the appearance of a gentle ram, was found in the far north with small creatures growing all over them. The fae flew in the sky, cheerful and carefree. The first humans that came to Yuwan asked them what great gifts they could offer mortals. It responded by slowly reaching into the sky and plucking one of the fluffballs and dismembering it, ripping its face and tiny body away from its cotton-y flesh. They then lowered the incredibly soft material down to the humans, and the humans offered it a warmer place to stay and proper food to eat (since the ram-god seemed to have eaten the surrounding place barren). Yuwan agreed, and they travelled home together.

Common Use

Fae fluff is used as fillings for winter coats, bedding and pillows. It can be spun into a yarn and dyed to make colourful, warm, and comfortable scarves, sweaters, socks, and undergarments. It can be further spun into thread, though it tends to be incredibly fragile. Because of this, it's often only used for embroidery.

Cultural Significance

Fae fluff is incredibly important for those in Yuwan's cult, and remains to be their main export. It allows species susceptible to cold weather to work and travel during winter, and made comfortable beds much more common and affordable for the common man.
