Themistoe

Themistoe used to be an small town in the Imperial province of Gaanick. As the war dragged on in the southern parts of Gaanick, Themistoe became a major staging area for the Imperial forces and attracted many traders and support businesses. When the peace was signed, an entire Imperial brigade of dragonborns, the Golden Suns, was still stationed near the now small city, commanded by General Pridaar. As all other Imperial dragonborns, General Pridaar was appalled by the treachery of Amadeus though he quickly saw that unseating him was a foolish enterprise. General Pridaar sent word to the displaced, due to Amadeus’ purges, dragonborns that the City State of Themistoe would offer them a new home. Thousands of dragonborns, including many of the families of the soldiers stationed in Themistoe answered the call. Pridaar took the title of Primarch of the City State of Themistoe. Themistoe could not afford to maintain the full dragonborn brigade as a standing army and most of the soldiers traded their weapons for tools and land. The integration of the dragonborn in the majority human population was not without tension. The problem was mitigated by the large number of conscripts who never returned from the war. The acceptance of the dragonborns was cemented by a short-lived war declared in 3001 by the Kingdom of Gaanick, under the semi-covert control of Ermahl at that point. Themistoe’s standing army was no match for the Gaanick forces, a mix of Goblinoid mercenaries, human regular soldiers and conscripts as well the warriors from the Ironbreath Kobold clan. However, five thousand dragonborn veterans, volunteered to join the fight alongside their fellow humans, turning the tide decidedly in favor of the defenders. Furthermore, the leader of the Ironbreath clan refused to engage in light of his past personal ties with Pridaar himself. The Gaanick forces withdrew and Ermahl, through a proxy, signed a nonaggression pact with Themistoe, which has been reaffirmed since them. Themistoe’s government was gradually transformed to include a council of the peoples to represent the interest of all races to the Primarch, which would remain a dragonborn. Pridaar passed away in 3032. His eldest son, Wujurn succeeded him but died in mysterious circumstances a bit over a year later. Pridaar’s niece, Erlimela, has been Primarch since then.
