Landsmen

Landsmen are the humans of Abba. They come in all colors, shapes, and sizes. They show some indication of genetic engineering, but there is no current "gengeneering" going on at this time. The highly technological past that separated the Landsmen from the Mer is currently not available, and the planet is agrarian in nature. Landsmen have a skin color based on their continent of origin. The northernmost continent has white skin, the midcontinent brown skin tones, and the southern equatorial continent has deep brown to black skin tones. The islanders are a mixed bag of colors, mostly a medium brown due to interbreeding.

The continents have differing social structures. The Northern Continent is based on Oligarchy and wealth. The Mid Continent has family and extended family groups, and is ruled by elected office. The Southern Continent is run by Tribal governments, with hereditary power and a mild caste system.

Uses, Products & Exploitation

Landsmen can and do exploit each other and Mer as slaves for personal gain. This is especially true in the Northern Continent where business is cutthroat and social standing is determined by wealth.

Unknown now, the Landsmen were genetically engineered to be successful on their adopted planet of Abba. The story of their origin was lost in a volcanic cataclysm that claimed their earliest settlement, which held the histories. Over time, both Landsmen and Mer forgot where they originated, and have adopted beliefs in deities of their new planet, and have formed their own legends.
