The largest manufacturer of the drug is Chroneforge, an organization located in Capitol, where their advanced laboratories have the equipment required to process the poisonous berries and use the extract to create the dangerous and highly poisonous substance.

Keric Hornbeck started experimenting with the usage of the substance in medicine 2675 A.R., it has since been more refined and is rarely leading to patient deaths anymore.

Access & Availability

While expensive and rare, the plant itself is not that difficult to find for the trained and proficient woodsman living in the center of the continent. The hard part is the creation of the extract and then the dosage of the drug. Only a very small amount is needed, since too much kills the patient for certain instead of whatever the drug was supposed to stop.

Complexity

To create the drug from the raw mournberry a lot of alchemical tools are required, it is rare to see this drug get created outside of the labs in Capitol and The Silver Flats where the most advanced research facilities on the continent is located.

Discovery

While experimenting on live test subjects with, the previously only thought poisonous, mournberry one of the scientists, Keric Hornbeck, made the connection to use the substance in a secret medical trial. The trial was on the subject thought to be beyond hope. Killed, or as close to one may get, in expedition deep down in the ground. The subject had lost a lot of blood and was covered in deep slashing wounds. When administered that extract, normally only thought to be poisonous, began to slow the life force of the body, preserving it. While the subject still died, after a full three days later than predicted, thus the trials proof was given. The extract could be used to stay of any immediate bodily harm to preserve it until further medical or heling procedures may be administered.
