Sharproot Sump

A salty mire of mystery

The path disappears as an untamed morass begins to envelop you. A myriad of musty smells, humming insects, and squishy undergrowth immerses you in the bayou as though it were trying to claim you. As you pass by the large bald cypress trees, your torso slowly sinks lower and lower into the cloudy bog. You suddenly have an eerie feeling eyes are watching you, and their intent is a mystery.    The Sharproot Sump is a flat expanse of a swamp on a small peninsula in southern Habormar. It is created by Lake Io provision of water for the Crag Delta. The small shantytown of Bogstead is the only humanoid civilization in this region due to the harsh environment and isolation.

Geography

Sharproot Sump lies at or below sea level and exists as a product of a combination of Lake Io and the humid climate. Unlike typical swamps, Sharproot Sump has a temperate climate and can become cold in some seasons despite its altitude and density. Rocky outcrops are typically made of sandstone and only manifest in large areas where islands or foothills once existed long ago.
