Corinne Delcol

Legislator Corinne Arynidae Delcol (a.k.a. The Negotiator)

Corinne Delcol was an Ecleinian politician and musician. She was most prominently known as a member of the Ecleinian Socialist Party (ESP) who led the party's youth wing, ESP Youth, and eventually rose to become the Speaker of Parliament after the retirement of Yara Thames. She was instrumental during the reign of June Sowager, serving as a close ally to the queen. Delcol played a major role in several of the biggest events in Ecleinian history, including the Third Dark War, the Second Corporate War, the October Revolution, the Ecleinian government's War on Piracy, and the Last War. She drafted a higher amount of legislation than most other legislators, and was a constant larger-than-life force in Ecleinia. Her greatest achievements included: she wrote the bills for all of June Sowager's High Council nominees, chaired the Commission on Post-War Grievances after the Third Dark War, composed the New Policy, the anti-corporation economic and regulations laws that came into place after the Second Corporate War, wrote the initial funding bill for Bailey Tracker's Special Projects and Research Division, drafted economic policy during the War on Piracy, and helped lead Ecleinia domestically during the Last War.   Delcol was born to the Delcol family, the dynasty that owned the Delcol Telecommunications Corporation. As the oldest daughter of Christine Delcol, Corinne was supposed to become CEO, but she renounced her right to it at the age of 16, letting it pass to her sister Madeleine instead. Corinne instead pursued music and politics. She played the flute since age 6, the saxophone since age 12, and the piccolo since age 14. She graduated from Kelthshaw Academy with a degree in Political Studies and a minor in music. She also had a skilled labor certification in first aid.

Personal history

Corinne Delcol was born on March 2, 2002, to Christine Delcol of the Delcol family   Delcol graduated from Kelthshaw Academy in 2019 and made the decision to run for a Parliament seat as a member of the Ecleinian Socialist Party (ESP). Her wit and charm made her a favorite with many in Caworn, particularly the young, and she was elected in a landslide for a seat.   Once in office, Delcol immediately distinguished herself as a master debater and a passionate orator. Her ability to captivate with words and to effectively negotiate with others made her a formidable political presence. She quickly racked up a string of political successes, and was labelled 'the Negotiator' by the Caworn Times for her impressive political skill.   In 2021, Delcol was one of the drafters behind Investigative Bill 33714-A3, a governmental bill which would put an investigative team to work investigating the Umbraion, a secretive criminal gang that was operating in Caworn. However, the October 2nd Incident distracted from this bill, and the first draft was ultimately voted down. Delcol released a second draft which did pass, although it granted less funding and fewer investigators to the Umbraion. Meanwhile, Bailey Tracker and the Ecleinian Resistance had opened their own investigation. After the April 29th incident, in which the headquarters of the Umbraion burned down under mysterious circumstances, Delcol encouraged governmental investigation.   However, it would be the skirmish between the Ecleinian Resistance and the Umbraion at the Ecleinian Royal Palace that truly revealed the truth. The Umbraion was no street gang, they were a highly trained secret military organized by none other than disgraced former Legislator Gaspar Panchiss. The skirmish left King Arun Sowager dead, and during the battle, Panchiss activated secret bombs in several governmental hangars and at the nation's military headquarters, effectively crippling an official government response. In the emergency parliamentary session which convened in the aftermath, Delcol argued for appointing Bailey Tracker to serve as a temporary Protector of the Realm, and to allow the Ecleinian Resistance to serve as an official government force until the Ecleinian military was restored.   The passage of both of these proposals elevated Delcol to a position of national prominence. During the war, she held one of the highest approval ratings of any Ecleinian politician, as well as becoming the public face of the ESP, along with the party chair, Ranea Algivin and party vice-chair Raya Smith (the three of them would be featured in a series of ESP voting advertisements which highlighted their political achievements during the 2023 election season).   The Battle of Foplin Village was a turning point, both in the war and in Delcol's political career. The battle began when Umbraion battle cruisers accompanying the 'Eviscerator', a colossal machine built to destroy, made a push south towards the village of Foplin on the Great Moor. The Ecleinian Resistance threw everything they had at the fleet, which bought time for the inhabitants of the village evacuate. The Eviscerator then proceeded to bomb the town completely, leaving nothing but ashes in rubble. In the aftermath, many of the commanders of the battle cruiser escort turned their guns on the Eviscerator as a reaction to the devastation they witnessed. The Ecleinian Resistance took down the Eviscerator and the turncoat officers joined the Resistance, giving Ecleinians access to thousands of previously secret Umbraion files. These files detailed an Umbraion plan to bomb major Ecleinian cities into submission. Bailey Tracker and June Sowager, among other key Resistance personnel, returned personally to Caworn to deliver the files to the Ecleinian Parliament.   Delcol was one of the first Legislators to speak on the topic, and she gave an impassioned, fiery speech denouncing the Umbraion and encouraging every Ecleinian to take up arms; she also declared she would support any measure to end the war and 'protect the people and the cities of Ecleinia'. Her speech made her a national symbol in the war- her approval ratings would jump to 98% and would not dip below 92% until the end of the war.   During the Battle of Caworn, Nicol chose to stay in Caworn and worked as a medic for the Ecleinian Resistance. She was stationed at Kelthshaw Academy, and witnessed the final battle between Bailey Tracker and Gaspar Panchiss. After the battle, she was present at the citywide celebrations celebrating the Ecleinian victory.   She was present at June Sowager's coronation and was re-elected to a second term in 2023.
